"Song With Your Name"

is a song title which appears only once in all of Donovan's releases, on the back cover of his Fairytale album.

No recorded track by Donovan with a corresponding title has ever surfaced in the 66 years since the album's release.

For years numerous theories have been put forward by fans, but they all miss the obvious.

'electric guitar on "Song With Your Name" - Shawn Philips'

There were just 33 Donovan recordings from 1965 produced by Terry Kennedy, Geoff Stephens and Peter Eden.

Mostly just Donovan, guitar, vocal, harmonica, and (banjo on Colours), occasionally accompanied with double bass, and sometimes drums.

Only one of the 33 songs has electric guitar accompaniment, "Sunny Goodge Street", which is on the Fairytale album which credits an electric guitar player.

For some reason the liner notes state:

"Recorded in Dublin, Ireland"

"He first recorded this song as a B-side in 1965, but the version here is a new recording"

Incorrect on both counts.  This is the same take as the 1965 Universal Soldier E.P. track which was 1.47 in length.

Either the original version on the E.P. was an edit of this longer version (unlikely), or this 2.23 version is a crafty extended mix of the original to give the appearance of a different recording with a different time.
